New for 2024! Due to demand, we are finally adding 12U/13U boys teams! Tryouts will be March 7th and 14th followed by a pre-Spring Break bonus practice on March 16th for selected players (see below for more info). We expect to run at least 4 teams. Practices from April to June will be later in the evening and games will be on weekends to avoid mid-week school team commitments for those that have a spring school season. 2024 ages: 12U: Sept 2011 – December 2012, 13U: Sept 2010 – December 2011.  We are flexible with ages that we will accept at tryouts (if your son is within 6 months of the posted birthdates and you believe his skill level would be a fit for one of these teams) Registration for tryouts is open!

Final outdoor beach volleyball tournament at Spanish Banks West, June 14th 4:30pm – 7:00pm (weather makeup June 21).

Why try out for boys’ Smash competitive development teams? 

1. Our coaches are engaged and positive, many will be members of the Capilano men’s volleyball team and are great role models. 

2. Equal playing time

3. Our fees are significantly lower than ‘clubs’

4. Tournaments are local

5. At least 65% of kids that attend our tryouts will make a team vs 10% at ‘club’ tryouts. Our spring weekly programs are available for those not selected.

6. One practice per week allows multi-sport participation

Following our bonus practice on March 16th, teams will practice once per week starting in early April and compete in at least 4 playdays/tournaments. Players will be placed on teams based on practice time availability first and friend requests second. All activities pause for March break between March 18th and April 1st. Most playdays are Saturday afternoons/evenings but there might be some Sunday or weeknight playdays as well. We are planning for 4 teams this year (spots for up to 52 players).
