Due to demand, we are adding more ages for BOYS teams! For 2025 we will have 12U/13U and 14U boys teams! Tryout dates will be Mar 9 and Mar 30 at Magee Secondary School from 4:30pm-6:30pm with a last chance tryout date of Apr 7 at Ecole Anne Hebert 6:15pm-7:45pm for those that can’t make the regular tryouts due to injury, illness, family emergency or if the friend of a selected player finds out about Smash after the tryouts and wants to join. The number of spots available on our teams at the last chance tryout will be limited and players may be waitlisted so we highly recommend registering in the Mar 9 or Mar 30 tryouts if possible for a better chance to play on a team. We expect to run at least 3-4 teams in each age group.
2025 ages:
12/13U (combined) 12U: Sep 2012 – Dec 2013, 13U: Sep 2011 – Dec 2012
14U: Sep 2010-Dec 2011
We are flexible with ages that we will accept at tryouts (if your son is within 6 months of the posted birthdates and you believe his skill level would be a fit for one of these teams)

Why try out for boys’ Smash competitive development teams?
1. Our coaches are engaged and positive, many will be members of the Capilano men’s volleyball team and are great role models.
2. Equal playing time
3. Our fees are significantly lower than ‘clubs’
4. Tournaments are local
5. At least 75% of kids that attend our tryouts will make a team vs 10% at ‘club’ tryouts. Our spring weekly programs are available for those not selected.
6. One practice per week allows multi-sport participation2
2025 Fees:
The fees for the 2025 season will be $675.00 including GST and includes all local tournaments, a Smash uniform to use for the season ($100 deposit), and a practice/warmup shirt to keep. For those that qualify, support is available from Jumpstart and/or Athletics4Kids.
2025 Selections:
Selections will be announced by email within 24 hours of tryouts. Please only sign up for 1 tryout session due to limited space. Those not selected will be recommended one of our weekly spring programs.
